At some point in college you will be expected to do college-level library research. But being able to do library research is just a step in becoming "information literate."

Information literacy skills can help you in your personal, professional, and academic life. In college you use these skills to complete research projects. At work you'll encounter situations where you must seek out information to make decisions. At home you're faced with choices related to consumer and civic issues. Each situation requires engagement in the information literacy process.

This guide focuses on how to do college-level library research, but you can certainly apply what you learn here to other areas of your life!

Level 1 covers the basics of getting research help, searching library databases, and citing sources. Level 2 and Level 3 guide you through more specialized resources, advanced search strategies, and tips for evaluating information.

Move through the guide using the "Previous" and "Next" buttons at the bottom left and right of the pages.

Let's get started!
