The OC Libraries are here for you!
At the library you can:
Use the library spaces: We have 3 floors with comfortable places to study or sit and relax. On the upper floor you can find many books, as well as study space. The main floor has books, newspapers, magazines, DVDs, the computer lab, Writing Center, Check-out Desk, Information Desk, as well as water fountains and bathrooms. Our basement has open spaces for studying as well as study rooms and a contemplative space.
Explore our ESOL Collection: There are different ways to find books or videos in the library collections. If you want something specific, it is easy to search for a title or topic using OneSearch on the libraries' homepage. You are also very welcome to just wander around and look, or you can use the Dewey Decimal System of call numbers to look at specific topics. We offer handout to help with the call numbers. On the north end of the library basement we have an Adult Education collection that many language learners find helpful.
Take a book home: Use your student I.D. card to check out a book at the Check Out Desk on the main floor of the Library. If you do not have the card with you, please show another form of identification card that has your photo on it. You can borrow up to 25 books at a time, and you can keep them for 21 days. DVDs and videos can be borrowed for 7 days.
Return a book: When you are done with a book, return it to the Check Out Desk, or put it in the silver "book drop" box outside the main library doors at the bottom of the steps.
Make photocopies: The big printer in the library computer lab is also the photocopy machine. It can copy in color or in black & white. Photocopies are covered by your student fees so there is no additional charge.
Use the computers: You can use the computers in the library computer lab to access the Internet, write papers, or listen to CDs. You will need to login with your OC username and password. We can help with this!
Printing from computers: Students may print from any computer lab. Your student fees cover the cost of printing. If you have any trouble printing, please ask for help at the Information Desk.
Ask for help: If you are at the Library you can always ask for help from the Librarian at the Information Desk. If you are not at the Library you can call us, email us, or chat online with a Librarian. Use the links at the top of this page to contact us.
