Here are some things to know for Fall 2024.

EBSCO Interface Update

The OC Libraries databases that are provided by EBSCO now have a new look!

The same content is available, but the interface has been updated by EBSCO. If you would like a quick walkthrough to familiarize yourself with the changes, contact librarians@olympic.edu and one of our library faculty will schedule that with you.

New Proxy Service

OC Libraries have migrated to a new “proxy” service, which is what allows users to log in to the libraries’ resources from off campus.  This migration changed the URLs for many of our subscription resources, including specific databases, articles, and eBooks!

What this means for YOU:

Links to specific library resources may no longer work!  Please check any library links you've saved so that they can be edited if need be!

Links that should NOT need editing:

  • Links to library web pages or LibGuides
  • Links to OneSearch records
  • Links to specific Swank streaming videos (seem to be working so far without remediation)
  • New links you copy from library databases, going forward!

Links that probably WILL need editing:

  • Links to specific library databases
  • Links to specific journal articles that are in found in library databases
  • Links to specific eBooks if they are on library eBook platforms (EBSCOhost, ProQuest eBook Central, ScienceDirect, JSTOR)
  • ??? there will likely be others that we haven’t thought of yet! 😊 That’s ok, we’ll figure it out together!

How to fix broken links:

  • Find the resource again, and copy the new/updated link, as long as it doesn’t start with the old proxy prefix listed in #1 above. Replace the old link with the new one.
